Meet the SRC Chairperson of modern Dompasland

Courtesy of Vryematie

Perhaps he has been silent about the dompas, for  nearly 36 hrs now,  because he is finding the Joe Slovo -Van Zyl Slabbert – Beyers Naudé voice within himself and hopefully fighting the Jan Smuts -Verwoerd-Vorster-Jaap Marais demon that has enshrined him with power. So, Comrade Greyling, the Great Mandela once said “Sometimes it falls upon a generation to be great. You can be that generation”.

Considering that it was his sweat and blood that contributed to  Stellenbosch University  housing the democracy flag,  do spare a building for his legacy.  Or a park, or  brigde or toilet.  Something!

Let me put your mind at ease such is not going to happen, there is no one who is going to be forced to carry their dompas. But also at the same time we need to constructively engaged with this reactionary management. You remember very well Cde Lebenya that even during the dark days of Apartheid, the leadership both in Lusaka and London took a decision to engage with elements with the Apartheid system, the result being the Dakar talks in Senegal led by Prof Willie Esterhyse and the Late Prof Slabbert Van Zyl. This was followed by Groot Schuur minute and Pretoria Minute, subsequently the multi-party negotiations, CODESA in Kempton Park. So the process we are embarking with USBD and SAPS is not a retreat but a strategic engagement that is imputed us by our Stalwarts, Oliver Tambo, Moses Kotane, JB Marks, ZK Matthews, Yusuf Dadoo, Mark Shope, Leslie Massina, Duma Nokwe, Moses Mabhida, Frances Baard, Steve Dlamini, Lilian Ngoyi, Walter Sisulu, Gertrude Shope, Govan Mbeki, Julius Nyerere, Raymond Mhlaba, Kenneth Kaunda, Helen Joseph, Trevor Huddleston, Agostinho Neto, Robert Resha, Jack Simons, Seretse Khama, Ray Alexander, Ruth Matseoane, Sam Nujoma, Fish Keitsing, Kate Molale, Ahmed Kathrada, Nelson Mandela, Joshua Nkomo, Samora Machel, MB Yengwa, Ruth and Joe Slovo, Robert Mugabe, Mpho Motsamai, Bram and Molly Fischer, Mike Harmel, Brian and Sonia Bunting, Andrew Mlangeni, Liz Abrahams, Joe Modise, Florence Mophosho, Alfred Nzo, Beyers Naude, Albertina Sisulu, Thomas Nkobi, Sophie de Bruyn, Ellen Khuzwayo, Nomzamo Madikizela-Mandela, Wilton Mkwayi, Alfred Hutchinson, Rusty and Hilda Bernstein, Jack and Rita Hodgson, Cedric Mayson, Thomas Nkobi, Tiny Nokwe, Albert Nolan and many others.

Anyway am not a South African, but am an African, Black African for that matter and by God’s grace I have right to live anywhere I like as long as am living in that place legally. I don’t know color and I would not like to do that, but on the issue of carrying my i.d. card with me anywhere i go will not be. I will not go with my I.D. everywhere and I promised all that nobody, I mean nobody born of a woman will harass me becos of that. Am not afraid of death and am ready to lay my life down if that is what it will cost to stop this nonsense that they are trying to introduce. If they want us to go with I.D. card then all students must be involved either yellow, green, black, pink, white or colored. But that as a black man i will be asked to produce my I.D card while walking either in the night or in the day will not be. I repeat myself it will not be, and they should be ready to kill somebody. That’s my own humble submission.
Long Live South Africa!!, Long Live all South or non South Africans!!, Long Live Stellenbosch University!!, and Long Live All Races in RSA!!!!!!!!!!!

    Thanks…

  4. Maybe it is Jan Marais, the guy who donated in the 1920s the funds necessary to make Stellenbosch a university. His stated goal was so that there may be an Afrikaans/Dutch university. Seems like Stellenbosch is forgetting that nowadays.

Yes, we would indeed like to know to which Marais you are referring, our fellow demon.

And just another correction, it is “Verwoerd”, not “Verwoed” and “Naude” and not “Nuade”.

  6. Perhaps they could name the new soccer field which the University recently opened after him.

Just a correction, it’s Van Zyl Slabbert, not Slabbert van Zyl.

And, if I may ask, to which Marais would you be referring? Smuts, Verwoerd, and I would love to know who our fellow demon is.
